Murder Is Murder

I totally understand your point of view about abortion and I get where your going with it, but I disagree. Like you have probably heard, there was a 9 year old girl in Brazil who was raped and became pregnant with twins and chose to have an abortion. Then, her mother and the doctor was excommunicated from the church. Do you think that they should have been? Was abortion really a sin in this situation, even though the child herself might have died? If the girl died, so would the babies.

i agree with etucci. although many people think abortion is wrong, many people have no choice. the 9 year old will have a very hard life just because of the fact that she was raped and became pregnant. people should have a choice because sometimes they think there is only one way out.

I would like to comment on your statement: "People should have a choice because somethimes they THINK there is only one way out." Ok, so say there is a man who has been fighting horribly with his wife. I mean his wife and him are constantly arguing. The man's life is miserable and he does not know what to do. So, one day he buys a gun and shoots his wife. You are probably reading this right now and thinking: This is awful! How could he do that?! Murder his wife?! You know this is man is a criminal. His wife had the right to live and now he has gone and done the unthinkable: murder. But, this man THOUGHT that murdering his wife was his only way out. Now, you are probably thinking what a stupid comparison, this example really is just silly. Murdering a grown woman and murdering a baby inside his or her mother's womb is completely different, right? Wrong! Murder is murder! Sure the man could have gotten a divorce from his wife or moved out of the house to escape his miserable wife. I would also like to point out that a woman could have a baby and adopt it (to escape raising a baby she is not prepared to raise, the financial difficulties, etc) Murder is inexcusable, horrible, and just plain wrong in any form.

  1. i completely agree with that story about the husband and wife. however, many women cannot keep their child for a number of reasons: they cannot afford to take care of it and the baby may end up dying anyway, they decide they do not want the baby (in this case, i think adoption would be best), or they are so upset that they want the baby completely gone and decide to have an abortion. the nine year old girl probably had a very small chance of survival if she delivered the babies, but she is still traumatized because she was raped AND had an abortion. i definately believe that women should make their own choice on whether to get an abortion or not.

  2. I am well aware that many women cannot keep their child for a number of reasons: that is what ADOPTION is for. That is not what abortion is for. Ok, also I understand why the nine year old girl had an abortion. I understand that she had a very small chance of survival and abortion truly was her only way out. So, please stop using the nine year old girl as an example. I have commented on what I believe concerning the case and the chance of something like this happen is really one in a million! Choose a different scenario! Women should not make their own choice on whether to have an abortion or not: many women aren't wise enough to see all sides of things. They believe an abortion is the only way out; they don't figure out until later that abortion was the wrong choice.

  3. To etucci:

OK, I do not think that they should have been excommunicated from the church. That was a little too far. However, she should not have had an abortion. It is better that she save the lives of the babies. She killed human beings for her own good. She could have given the babies up for adoption. Yes, it would have been tough, but I think she should have made the sacrifice to save a few lives. The babies are still humans, and if you have an abortion, it is the same as if you kill a grown adult on the street - even worse, perhaps, because you take away their chance to live before they even get one minute in the world. God created them in his image and likeness, and someone who has an abortion destroys that gift from God.

  4. Interesting point, however she would have died with the babies too, so I don't know what would have happened...

  7. katie I so agree with all of your comments. In the case of the nine year old girl, its better if the girl died (semi-naturally) then two people dieing by murder. That's all I have to say. Great blog btw Katie!!!!! =)

  8. Thanks Katie! I new I was picking a controversial topic but this is way harder than I thought! hahaha I feel so strongly in one direction and there are so many that feel very strongly in the opposite direction. If you have anything that would help me out I'd gladly take it! (a good website or article, etc.)
